Queen House

Queen House suits travellers who want to be at the water's edge on the quiet west side of Elephantine, need reliable Wi-Fi and like having a front desk and tour desk on hand. It suits couples who want a double bed less well, since every room it lists is a twin or a triple, and its comfort and facilities scores trail its island neighbours.

Why stay here

  • The river at the doorQueen House lists a private area on the river bank, and on the map it is the westernmost of the island guest houses in this guide. That side looks over the western channel towards the desert hills and the Tombs of the Nobles, the view most people come to Aswan for, rather than towards the city.
  • A perfect score for Wi-FiGuests give its free Wi-Fi a 10 on Booking.com, the only perfect sub-score in our Aswan list. The other Aswan-area places in the guide score between 8.1 and 9.6 on this point, so if you need to work or upload photos, this matters.
  • More hotel services than most guest housesIt lists a 24-hour front desk, a tour desk, room service, luggage storage, an airport shuttle and a restaurant with Nubian and Middle Eastern food. Booking trips and transfers in one place saves time on a short stay.
  • The most relaxed check-outCheck-out is from 11:00 to 12:00, the latest of the island guest houses, which helps if your train or flight leaves in the afternoon.

Good to know before you book

  • Comfort and facilities are the weak pointsIt scores 9.1 on Booking.com from 357 reviews (checked 11 Oct 2026). Facilities at 8.6 and comfort at 8.9 are the lowest sub-scores of the five island guest houses, while location (9.5) and staff (9.5) are strong.
  • Twin bedsThe three room types it lists are a twin, a twin with terrace and a triple. If you want a double bed, ask before booking whether beds can be pushed together, or look at Kashta or Fadl Kato.
  • The priciest of the budget island optionsAt around €40 a night for two in mid-January 2027 when we checked, it is still price tier 1 but costs more than ABU (€26), Fadl Kato (€31) and Kashta (€33). Prices change, so compare on your own dates.
  • Farther from the ferry side that faces townBeing on the west side, you walk across the village to reach the ferries to the Corniche. The island is small, so it is minutes, not a hike, but plan for it with luggage.

Rooms

The base option is the twin with private bathroom (17 m²). For a little more, the twin with terrace gives you outdoor space, which is the reason to stay on this side of the island: pick it if you want to sit out at sunset. For three people, the triple with river view is the only room that promises the Nile by name.

The hotel lists air conditioning, a private bathroom, a balcony and a TV in the rooms, and breakfast is continental with local dishes. Pets are not allowed. Children are not covered by a stated age policy, so ask before booking if one will need an extra bed.

Getting there and around

From Aswan airport

The airport is about 15 km away in a straight line. Queen House lists an airport shuttle; arrange it before you arrive. Otherwise, take a taxi to the Corniche (roughly half an hour) and the public ferry across.

From Aswan railway station

The station is about 2.2 km in a straight line. Go south along the Corniche to the ferry landing, cross, and walk through the village to the west side.

To the sights

The Nubian Museum is about 1.0 km away and the Unfinished Obelisk 1.6 km, both on the east bank. From the west side of the island, boats to the Tombs of the Nobles and the west bank are a natural day plan; Philae (6.9 km) and the High Dam (13 km) need a car or tour, which the tour desk can arrange.

How it compares

Queen House against two island neighbours and a small mainland guest house with a pool, all in the budget tier.
