Why stay here
- The most-reviewed hotel in Luxor, still at 9.0It has 9.0 on Booking.com from 5,497 reviews (checked 11 Oct 2026), more reviews than any other hotel in Luxor on the site. A score that holds at that volume is a good sign of consistency. Staff (9.4) and comfort (9.3) lead the sub-scores.
- Eight acres of gardens on the riverThe resort lists about 8 acres of gardens with direct Nile frontage, two pools and a spa. That gives it more space and greenery than the city hotels just to the north on the Corniche.
- Five-star facilities at a lower priceWhen we checked it was around €137 a night for two in mid-January 2027 (price tier 3 of 4), the cheapest of the large five-star hotels in this guide. Value for money scores 8.9, higher than the Hilton or the Steigenberger Nile Palace. Prices change, so check your dates.
- Close enough to townLuxor Temple is about 2.1 km in a straight line and the railway station about 2.2 km. A UK tour operator describes the walk to the temple along the river as roughly 25 to 30 minutes on the flat; a taxi or horse carriage takes a few minutes.
Good to know before you book
- The old Sheraton, now a SteigenbergerThe resort was previously the Sheraton Luxor Resort and reopened under the Steigenberger brand in 2018 after a renovation. Booking.com still uses the old name in its web address, so do not be surprised if you see it.
- Wi-Fi is the weakest scoreFree Wi-Fi scores 8.4, clearly below the other sub-scores. If you need to work or make video calls, the Steigenberger Nile Palace nearby scores 9.3 for Wi-Fi.
- ID, card and age rules at check-inCheck-in is listed from 15:00 to 16:00, and you need photo ID and a credit card. Guests under 18 can only stay with a parent or guardian. Check-out is between 10:30 and 12:00, earlier than at some neighbours.
- New Year's Eve and half boardWhen we checked, the New Year's Eve gala dinner was included in half-board rates. If you book room only or bed and breakfast over 31 December, ask the hotel how the gala is charged. Pets are not allowed.

Rooms
The cheapest rooms are the superior garden-view rooms in the bungalows, with a king bed or twin beds. They are low-rise and set in the gardens, a good choice if you prefer quiet and greenery over a view of the river. Classic rooms (king or twin) and a twin with city view sit in the main building.
If the Nile is the reason you came, look for superior king, Nile view or deluxe twin, Nile view; the junior suite is the top category. Children aged 6 to 11 can have an extra bed for about US$10 a night when we checked, and from 12 they pay as adults.

Questions
Was the Steigenberger Resort Achti the Sheraton Luxor?
Yes. The same site was the Sheraton Luxor Resort and reopened as a Steigenberger in 2018 after renovation. Booking.com's web address for the hotel still carries the old name.
Can I walk to Luxor Temple?
Yes, if the heat allows. It is about 2.1 km in a straight line, roughly 25 to 30 minutes along the river. Early morning or after sunset is more comfortable.
Are garden bungalows or Nile-view rooms better?
Bungalows are cheaper and quieter, set in the gardens. Nile-view rooms cost more and are the ones to pick if the river view matters to you.
Can teenagers stay without their parents?
No. The hotel states that guests under 18 can only stay with a parent or guardian.
Is the Wi-Fi good?
It is the weakest point in the scores, 8.4 on Booking.com. It is usually enough for messages and browsing; for long video calls you may prefer a hotel with a higher Wi-Fi score.
Does the hotel have an airport shuttle?
Yes, the hotel lists a paid airport shuttle. A taxi is the other option, usually around 20 minutes.
