Why stay here
- Some of the highest scores in LuxorAl Moudira scores 9.5 on Booking.com from 558 reviews (checked 11 Oct 2026). Cleanliness and comfort both sit at 9.8 and facilities at 9.7, the highest sub-scores of any Luxor hotel in this guide. Even value for money, often the weak spot at this price, holds at 9.1.
- Suites only, each one differentThere are no standard rooms: the hotel lists five suite types, from junior suites to family suites, and each is furnished individually. Travel press describes the building as a domed, courtyard-style palace set in large gardens. It opened in 2002 and in late 2023 was announced as the first Relais & Châteaux member in Egypt.
- Close to the West Bank sightsOn the map it is about 6 km in a straight line from Medinet Habu, 6.9 km from the Colossi of Memnon and under 8 km from both the Valley of the Kings and Hatshepsut's temple. Staying here means you can be at the tombs at opening time, when it is coolest, without crossing the Nile first.
- A complete hotel on siteThe hotel lists an outdoor pool with a pavilion, a spa with sauna and massage, a fitness room, gardens and terraces, a restaurant serving Mediterranean and Eastern dishes, a bar and bicycle rental. Parking is free and reception works around the clock, so late flights are not a problem.
Good to know before you book
- You are out in the countrysideLocation, at 8.9, is its lowest sub-score, and the map explains why: Luxor Temple is about 8.7 km away in a straight line and the railway station 9.3 km. There is nothing to walk to, so most travellers eat at the hotel and use taxis or a hotel car for the East Bank.
- The top price tier in LuxorIt is the most expensive Luxor hotel in this guide, at around €436 a night for two in mid-January 2027 when we checked, against roughly €313 at the Hilton. Prices change with season and demand, so check your own dates.
- Age and ID rulesThe guest who checks in must be at least 18, with photo ID and a credit card. Children can stay, and from age 15 they are charged as adults; there is a family suite for groups. Pets are not allowed.
- Crossing the river means a carThe public ferry docks several kilometres away, by the riverside villages, so for the East Bank you will usually go by road over the bridge south of town. Allow time for this in your plans for Karnak, the Luxor Museum or dinners in town.

Rooms
Every unit is a suite. The junior suite is the entry level and works well for a couple. The signature, luxury and fountain suites add space and character; the fountain suites open onto the courtyards that give the hotel its look.
The family suite is the one to pick if you travel with older children, since from 15 they count as adults on the bill. Because each suite is decorated differently, read the description of the exact suite you book rather than assuming two of the same type match.

Getting there and around
From Luxor airport
The airport is on the East Bank, about 15 km in a straight line. By road you cross the Nile on the bridge south of town, so expect roughly 40 minutes to an hour, depending on traffic. Most travellers arrange a car with the hotel or take a taxi; agree the fare before you set off.
From Luxor railway station
The station is in the centre of the East Bank, about 9.3 km away in a straight line. A taxi over the bridge is the simple option. You can also take the public ferry and a taxi on the West Bank, but with luggage the car all the way is easier.
To the sights
Medinet Habu, the Colossi of Memnon, Hatshepsut's temple and the Valley of the Kings are all a short drive away, roughly 10 to 20 minutes. For Karnak and Luxor Temple you go back to the East Bank, either by car over the bridge or by car to the ferry and across. See our plan for Luxor in 3 days.
How it compares
Al Moudira is the only Luxor hotel in this guide set at the desert edge. The table puts it next to the two big resorts that also keep you away from the town, and against Nile Castle, a West Bank option by the ferry at about a third of the price.
