Luxor Guest House

Luxor Guest House suits families, small groups and slow travellers who want a self-catering apartment with a pool on the West Bank, near the public ferry, for a budget price. It suits less those who need strong Wi-Fi or expect the polish of a hotel room.

Why stay here

  • Apartments, not roomsEvery unit is a studio or an apartment, and the hotel lists a balcony, a fitted kitchen and a washing machine. For a week or more, or for a family that wants to cook breakfast and do laundry, that is worth more than a bigger hotel room.
  • Low price for the spaceIt is in the lowest price tier of this guide, at around €28 a night for two in mid-January 2027 when we checked. Value for money scores 9.3, and two-bedroom apartments make it cheaper per person for groups.
  • Pool, garden and roof terraceThe hotel lists an outdoor pool open all year, a garden and a roof terrace, plus a restaurant for lunch and dinner with halal, vegetarian and vegan options. A tour desk and car hire help with the West Bank sights.
  • Well placed in the villagesIt is in Al Bairat, in the Al Ramla area of the West Bank, about 0.8 km in a straight line from Luxor Temple across the river. Location scores 9.2 and staff 9.6, its two strongest sub-scores. The public ferry, local shops and small restaurants are close by.

Good to know before you book

  • Wi-Fi is weakWi-Fi scores 7.6, one of the lowest Wi-Fi scores in this guide. If you work remotely or stream, a local SIM with data is close to essential.
  • Comfort and facilities lag behindIt scores 9.0 on Booking.com from 471 reviews (checked 11 Oct 2026) and 4.8 on Google Maps from 99 reviews, but facilities (8.5), comfort (8.7) and cleanliness (8.9) are lower than at its neighbours. Expect simple, practical apartments rather than hotel finishes.
  • The river is between you and the townThe souq, Karnak and the Luxor Museum are on the East Bank. In the daytime the ferry makes that easy; at night, or with luggage, a car over the bridge is a much longer route.
  • Check-in and check-outCheck-in runs from 14:00 to 23:30; check-out is between 06:00 and 12:00, which helps with early trains and balloon flights. Pets are not allowed.

Rooms

The studio apartment (about 25 m²) is the choice for a couple: more space than most budget doubles in Luxor, with its own kitchen. The one-bedroom apartment adds a separate bedroom, useful if one of you gets up early for the tombs or a balloon flight.

For families or two couples, the two-bedroom apartment is the best value per person. The two-bedroom apartment with river view costs more; it is the one to pick if a Nile view from the balcony matters to you.

Getting there and around

From Luxor airport

The airport is on the East Bank, about 8 km in a straight line but roughly 24 km by road, since cars cross on the bridge south of town. Expect about 40 minutes. The hotel lists a paid airport shuttle; otherwise take a taxi and agree the fare first.

From Luxor railway station

The station is on the East Bank, about 1.5 km away in a straight line. With light luggage, take a short taxi to the public ferry landing, cross and walk or take a tuk-tuk; ask the hotel where the ferry docks now, as the landing has moved over the years. With heavy bags, a taxi over the bridge is simpler but slower.

To the sights

The Colossi of Memnon are about 3.2 km in a straight line, and Medinet Habu, Hatshepsut's temple and the Valley of the Kings roughly 15 to 25 minutes by car. Luxor Temple is a ferry ride across; Karnak a short taxi ride further north on the East Bank. See Luxor in 3 days.

How it compares

The table compares Luxor Guest House with its two neighbours in the riverside villages, Luxor Oasis and Nile Castle, and with Abeer, the budget choice in town on the East Bank.
