Why stay here
- Better scores than its bigger neighbourIt scores 8.8 on Booking.com from 837 reviews (checked 16 Oct 2026), above The Grand, a couple of hundred metres up the road, and it leads it on cleanliness (9.2), staff (9.4) and Wi-Fi (9.2). On Google Maps it has 4.2 from 3,716 reviews.
- At the gate, for sunrise and sunsetIt is in Tusayan on AZ-64, about 10 km in a straight line from Mather Point. Location scores 9.5. From here, sunrise at the rim and a walk along it at dusk are both short drives.
- Two wings, two budgetsThe lodge has a hotel wing with interior corridors and an older motel wing with economy rooms. That gives a cheaper way to sleep at the gate than most of its neighbours, and a slightly better room if you want it.
- Wi-Fi that worksFree Wi-Fi scores 9.2, unusually high for a hotel at the park gate and well above The Grand's 8.0. Check-out is until 12:00, an hour later than at The Grand, which helps after an early sunrise.
Good to know before you book
- Prices are still gate pricesIt is in price tier 3, at around €150 a night for two in mid-January 2027 when we checked, converted from US dollars. That is less than The Grand but more than the Williams motels. Value for money is its lowest sub-score, at 8.4.
- The pool is outdoor and seasonalThe heated outdoor pool is listed as seasonal, so do not count on it in winter, when nights at the rim are well below freezing. There is a fitness centre and a restaurant on site.
- The motel wing is the older partThe economy twin rooms are in the older motel wing, in a motel-style building without the hotel wing's interior corridors. If you are arriving in winter or with small children, the double queen room in the hotel wing is the more comfortable choice.
- Age and petsThe person checking in must be at least 18, pets are not allowed, and check-in runs from 16:00 to 23:30. The free Tusayan shuttle into the park is not running as of October 2026, so plan to drive in.

Rooms
There are two room types. The double queen room is in the hotel wing, with interior corridors, and suits families of up to four: cots are free and extra beds cost US$15 a night, according to the hotel's policy on Booking.com. The economy twin room is in the motel wing and is the cheaper way to sleep at the gate.
For one night of sunset and sunrise, the economy room is enough for two adults who are out at the rim most of the time. For longer stays, families or winter visits, pay the difference for the hotel wing. The hotel also lists family rooms.
