The Winslow

The Winslow suits road-trippers who want a modern room by the interstate, with breakfast, a bar, a gym and excellent Wi-Fi, and who may be travelling with a dog. It suits less those who want to walk to downtown Winslow, or who would rather spend a little more for the history of La Posada.

Why stay here

  • Modern and well ratedIt scores 8.6 on Booking.com from 217 reviews (checked 16 Oct 2026) and 4.4 on Google Maps from 343 reviews. Comfort and staff both score 9.0, and cleanliness and facilities 8.9: a consistent picture of a modern hotel.
  • The best Wi-Fi in this guideFree Wi-Fi scores a full 10.0 on Booking.com, the highest Wi-Fi score in our Arizona guide. If you need to work on the road, this is the place on the eastern stretch of Route 66.
  • Breakfast, bar and gymThe hotel lists breakfast, a bar, a fitness centre, a terrace with an outdoor fireplace and a small shop. Parking is free, which helps when you arrive late off I-40.
  • Room for families and petsOf its six room types, a family room and a suite give space for more than two, cots are free for children up to 2, and pets are allowed, with possible charges. There is also an accessible double room.

Good to know before you book

  • Not in the historic centreThe hotel is on the north side of Winslow, near an I-40 exit, about 2.2 km in a straight line from Standin' on the Corner Park. You will drive or take a taxi to the corner and La Posada rather than walk.
  • Close in price to La PosadaIt is in price tier 3, at around €198 a night for two in mid-January 2027 when we checked, converted from US dollars. La Posada cost around €216 for the same dates, and value for money is The Winslow's lowest sub-score at 8.1.
  • Minimum age 21The person checking in must be at least 21. Check-in runs from 15:00 to midnight; the listing shows no fixed check-out time, so confirm it when you book.
  • Far from the Grand CanyonThe South Rim is roughly two to two and a half hours away by our estimate. Winslow is a stop for Meteor Crater, the Petrified Forest and Route 66, not a canyon base.

Getting there and around

From Phoenix Sky Harbor

Drive north on I-17 to Flagstaff and east on I-40 to Winslow, roughly three to three and a half hours without stops by our own estimate from the distances. See Phoenix to the Grand Canyon.

From Las Vegas

Take US-93 to Kingman (about 119 miles, 192 km, AAA), then I-40 east past Williams and Flagstaff. By our own estimate that is about five and a half hours without stops, so most travellers stop a night on the way. See Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon.

By train

Amtrak's Southwest Chief stops at Winslow station in the centre, next to La Posada, about 2 km from the hotel; you will need a taxi or a lift for the last stretch.

To the Grand Canyon and the Petrified Forest

Flagstaff is about 60 miles (97 km) west, and from there the South Rim about 79 miles (127 km) and 1.5 hours via US-180 (National Park Service). Meteor Crater is about 30 km west and the Petrified Forest's Painted Desert Visitor Center about 83 km east, both in a straight line. See Grand Canyon fees in 2026 and the Route 66 road trip.
