Why stay here

  • Pets stay freePets are allowed free of charge, according to the hotel's policy on Booking.com. It is the only hotel in this guide's three canyon bases, Tusayan, Williams and Flagstaff, that accepts pets, and Visit Flagstaff describes a fenced off-leash dog area on site.
  • A 1962 motor hotel, remodelledVisit Flagstaff, the city's official tourism site, says the motor hotel was built in 1962 and reopened in summer 2023 after a full remodel, with 89 rooms.
  • More to do on site than most motelsThe hotel lists an outdoor pool open all year, a restaurant and pool bar, breakfast, free bicycles, an outdoor fireplace, a play area and EV charging. That is a long list for price tier 2.
  • Good scores, mid-range priceIt scores 8.9 on Booking.com from 2,534 reviews (checked 16 Oct 2026), with staff at 9.4 and value for money at 9.0. On Google Maps it has 4.5 from 637 reviews. It costs around €109 a night for two in mid-January 2027 when we checked, converted from US dollars.

Good to know before you book

  • East Flagstaff, not downtownIt is on Route 66 in east Flagstaff, about 3.8 km in a straight line from downtown. That is a short drive or a bike ride on the hotel's free bicycles, but not a walk for dinner on a cold night.
  • Check-in age 21The person checking in must be at least 21. Children of all ages are welcome, but there are no cots or extra beds, so a family needs the room with two queen beds.
  • Wi-Fi is the lowest scoreFree Wi-Fi scores 8.8, its weakest sub-score, though still good. Location scores 9.1, below the 9.4 to 9.7 of the Williams hotels in this guide.
  • Long drive for sunriseMather Point is about 105 km away in a straight line, and the National Park Service gives about 90 minutes from Flagstaff to the South Rim. Plan the canyon as a day trip; for sunrise, a night in Tusayan works better.

Rooms

There are three room types. The small double room is the budget choice for a couple travelling light. The deluxe queen room is the standard pick for two, and the superior room with two queen beds is the one for families or friends sharing, since the hotel has no cots or extra beds.

Rooms have a fridge, a coffee maker and a desk, according to the hotel's listing. Check-in runs from 16:00 to midnight and check-out is between 08:00 and 12:00, a generous window on both ends for a road trip.

Getting there and around

From Phoenix Sky Harbor

I-17 runs north from Phoenix to Flagstaff. The National Park Service gives about four hours from Phoenix to the South Rim, of which about 90 minutes is the Flagstaff–rim stretch, so Flagstaff is roughly two and a half hours from Phoenix by our own estimate. Groome Transportation runs about 13 shuttles a day from the airport to Flagstaff. See Phoenix to the Grand Canyon.

From Las Vegas

Take US-93 to Kingman, about 119 miles (192 km) and 2 h 20 min according to AAA, then I-40 east past Williams, which is just under two hours from Kingman, and on for 44 miles (71 km) to Flagstaff. See Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon.

To the Grand Canyon South Rim

US-180 runs north-west from Flagstaff to Valle and AZ-64, about 79 miles (127 km) and an hour and a half to the South Entrance. Dogs cannot ride the park shuttles and must stay on a leash and above the rim, so plan to drive. See Grand Canyon entrance fees in 2026.

To Sedona and Route 66 east

Uptown Sedona is about 40 km away in a straight line: see our Sedona day trip. Meteor Crater is about 57 km to the east, on the way to Winslow on our Route 66 road trip.
